About Us
Our Planet is Polluted with Plastic
Although plastic is useful in many cases, humans have become addicted to disposable plastic — resulting in severe environmental ramifications.
Globally, people buy nearly one million plastic drinking bottles every minute. Additionally, 5 trillion disposable plastic bags are used every year. Collectively, half of all plastic products are made to be used once and thrown away.
300 million tons of plastic waste is produced every year today. To put that into perspective, that number almost equals the weight of the entire world population.
Over 8.3 billion tons of plastic have been produced since the early 1950s. Approximately 60% of that plastic has wound up in the environment.
Furthermore, the rate of plastic production has accelerated rapidly over the last 70 years. Even more worrisome, single-use plastics are being produced at a much larger volume than durable plastic.
Single-use, disposable plastic products have become ubiquitous. For a large part of the population, these disposable plastic products, such as plastic water bottles and plastic bags, have become essential to daily life.
Plastic waste does not degrade, making its impact on our environment extremely long-lasting and severe. While its durability and resistance to deterioration makes plastic useful, these traits also make plastic impossible for nature to fully break down. This inability to be broken down allows plastic to permeate in our oceans and environment, harming wildlife and polluting our water.
If we don’t put a stop to this increasing plastic pollution, our oceans could soon become polluted to the point of no return.
Why We Created Plastic Free Best
Plastic Free Best was created specifically to reduce the amount of plastic in our environment. We believe that we can lower the plastic pollution in our oceans by switching to plastic-free products made from eco-friendly and biodegradable materials. Our products function just as well — if not better — than their plastic counterparts. Truly, there is no need to use plastic products anymore. If we all do our part in using less plastic — which can be as little as switching from a plastic toothbrush to a wooden one — together we can beat this impending threat to our planet.
